Christopher Leonas
Christopher Leonas is an artist, writer, designer, and storyteller with a deep fascination for the dark nature of American folklore and its rugged wilderness gothic. He grew up imagining a fantastic realm of monsters, maidens, heroes, and adventure in the woods near his boyhood home. Christopher has a passion for sharing stories of hideous or malicious things that lurk down shadowy trails, along cool river valleys, or inside abandoned barns.
The intertwined stories to come in Christopher’s universe will depict uncanny yet familiar locations or historical events, brought to life with illustrations by the author in traditional powdered media, such as soft pastel and charcoal. Their ominous settings lie in the misty, wooded areas of the Northeast and Great Lakes regions of the United States, with points of origin centered beneath the hemlocks of the Allegheny wilderness.
Christopher’s storytelling style is influenced by a wide gamut of authors, from Nathaniel Hawthorne and Algernon Blackwood to Bram Stoker, Robert Louis Stevenson, Ray Bradbury, William Peter Blatty, and Cormac McCarthy.
Christopher lives with his family in the wooded countryside of northeast Ohio. He can be reached here for interview or media requests.
